Day Twelve: The Healing Power of Laying on of Hands
Scripture Reading:
“They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
– Mark 16:18
Devotional Thought:
One of the most powerful ways healing is released in the Bible is through the laying on of hands. Jesus Himself often healed people by touching them, and He commanded His followers to do the same. Mark 16:17-18 tells us that one of the signs that follow believers is that they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
The laying on of hands is not just a religious tradition—it is a biblical principle that activates the power of God. When hands are laid on someone in faith, God’s healing power is released, transferring His anointing into their body.
We see this throughout Scripture:
Jesus laid hands on the sick, and they were healed (Luke 4:40).
The apostles laid hands on people, and they received the Holy Spirit and healing (Acts 8:17, Acts 9:17).
Paul laid hands on the sick, and they recovered (Acts 28:8).
Healing is not just something we receive; it’s something we are called to impart. If you are believing for healing, don’t hesitate to ask someone to lay hands on you in faith. And if you are a believer, you have the power to lay hands on others and pray for healing in Jesus’ name!
Testimony:
A man named James had been suffering from chronic back pain for over five years. He had seen multiple doctors and physical therapists, but the pain remained. One Sunday morning, after hearing a sermon on healing, he felt the Holy Spirit nudge him to go forward for prayer.
As he walked to the altar, a group of elders surrounded him, laid hands on him, and began to pray in faith. They declared Mark 16:18 over him, believing that healing would manifest. As they prayed, James suddenly felt a warmth in his lower back, like a surge of energy flowing through him.
The pain that had tormented him for years instantly disappeared! He bent down, touched his toes—something he hadn’t been able to do in years—and felt no pain at all. Overcome with joy, he began to weep, realizing that God’s power had touched his body.
James’ healing wasn’t just about him—he felt a calling to pray for others. Now, he serves on his church’s healing team, laying hands on the sick and watching miracles happen just as they did in the Bible. He tells everyone, “Healing is real. The laying on of hands isn’t just for Bible times—it’s for today!”
Powerful Life-Changing Prayer:
Father God, I thank You for the authority and power You have given believers to lay hands on the sick and see them recover. I believe that Your healing power flows through me, and that when hands are laid on the sick in faith, miracles happen.
Lord, today I activate my faith in Your Word. If I am in need of healing, I ask You to guide me to someone who will lay hands on me and pray in faith. If I have the opportunity to lay hands on someone else, give me boldness to do so, knowing that it is not my power, but Your power flowing through me.
Holy Spirit, fill me with faith and confidence in the authority You have given me. I declare that I am healed, whole, and restored in the mighty name of Jesus. I refuse to accept sickness as my portion—I accept the fullness of Your healing power.
Thank You, Lord, for making healing available to me. I walk in faith, expecting to see Your miraculous power at work. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Action Step:
If you need healing, ask a pastor, elder, or fellow believer to lay hands on you and pray in faith. If you know someone who is sick, offer to lay hands on them and pray for healing in Jesus’ name. Trust in the power of God’s Word and expect miracles!
