Day Six: The Power of the Name of Jesus

Scripture Reading: John 14:13-14 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

Devotional Thought:

The name of Jesus carries unmatched authority and power. When Jesus walked the earth, His name brought healing, deliverance, and restoration. That same power is available to us today as believers. Jesus Himself declared that whatever we ask in His name, He will do, because His name glorifies the Father.

In Acts 3:6-8, we see this power demonstrated when Peter and John encountered a man lame from birth. Peter spoke boldly, saying, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Immediately, the man was healed and began walking, leaping, and praising God. The name of Jesus carries the authority of heaven, releasing healing and victory over every situation.

Philippians 2:9-11 reveals the exalted authority of Jesus’ name: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” His name is above every name—above sickness, pain, fear, and death. Whatever challenge you face today, declare the name of Jesus over it. His name is a strong tower, a refuge, and a source of healing.

Testimony:

A man facing a sudden and severe illness was rushed to the hospital with symptoms that baffled the medical team. His condition worsened rapidly, and his family was told to prepare for the worst. However, his wife, a woman of great faith, refused to accept defeat. She immediately called their church family to prayer, asking them to intercede in the name of Jesus. Over the next few days, people across the community began praying, quoting healing scriptures, and declaring victory in Jesus’ name.

His wife would sit by his bedside, holding his hand and softly speaking the name of Jesus over him. She would say, “In the name of Jesus, you will rise up. In the name of Jesus, sickness has no authority here.” The atmosphere in the room began to shift, filled with peace and hope. By the fourth day, his condition began to improve against all odds. Tests that initially showed severe organ failure started coming back normal. Within two weeks, he was discharged, walking out of the hospital completely healed. Doctors called it a miracle, but the man and his wife knew it was the power of the name of Jesus. Today, they share their story to encourage others, reminding them that the name of Jesus has power over every sickness and every circumstance.

Prayer:

Father God, I come before You in awe of the power and authority You have given us in the name of Jesus. Thank You for the victory that is found in His name—a name above all names, above sickness, fear, and every obstacle I face. Lord, I declare the name of Jesus over every area of my life that needs healing, restoration, and peace. I speak life where there is death, health where there is sickness, and hope where there is despair.

Holy Spirit, I ask You to strengthen my faith and help me to pray with boldness and confidence. Teach me to walk in the authority of Jesus’ name and to trust in the victory He has already won for me. I surrender every burden, every fear, and every challenge to You, Lord. I declare that in the name of Jesus, I am healed, I am whole, and I am free. Let Your name be glorified through my life as a testimony of Your power and goodness. I thank You, Father, for the healing and restoration You are working in me today. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray—the name to which every knee will bow and every tongue will confess. Amen.

Action Step:

Spend time today declaring the name of Jesus over every area of your life where you need healing or breakthrough. Say, “In the name of Jesus, I declare [specific need].” Speak it aloud with confidence and faith, trusting in the authority of His name.
