God cares about how we live our lives, He has provided us so much of His guidance in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.
For example, God’s word instructs us how to walk in Ephesians 5.
- Walk in Love (Ephesians 5:2)
- Walk in Light (Ephesians 5:8)
- Walk in Wisdom (Ephesians 5:15)
God instructs us to walk in Wisdom but how do we walk in wisdom?
Key Verse
Proverbs 4:7-8
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her.”
What is Wisdom?
Wisdom is not just knowledge, it’s not facts, and it’s not common sense.
The classical and Biblical definition of wisdom is Seeing and responding to life (and life’s challenges) from God’s perspective.
Divine Wisdom for My Decisions
Today we want to discuss how to have “Divine Wisdom for My Decisions”.
God’s wisdom is available for every daily decision that you make, not just the big decisions in life.
So you may ask how do I make wise decisions?
I want to share with you today a practical tool that you can use to help you make wise decisions everyday.
Biblical Decision-Making Funnel (Five questions to help you make Godly decisions).
1. Does this decision align with Biblical Principles?
We start with this question because if the answer is no, you stop here.
God will never ask you to do something that will contradict His written Word, the Bible.
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE shall direct your paths.
2. Is this decision the best decision?
The best decision checks 4 boxes (acrostic BEST)
- Blesses Others
- Evaluates Multiple Options
- Studies the Facts
- Thinks about Timing
3. Does this decision protect my Christian witness?
Will my decisions draw others closer to God or drive them away?
Proverbs 10:9
“He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.”
Integrity means that which is whole.
A wise decision will never compromise your integrity in…

4. Is this Decision supported by Godly believers?
Many decisions you are faced with may be personal and emotional which makes it difficult for you to see every perspective, this is why it is important to surround yourself with Godly believers who can help you in making your decisions.
Proverbs 11:14
“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of (Godly) counselors there is safety.”
I inserted Godly because the counsel you receive is important.
You would not get counsel from your single or divorced friends if you were struggling in your marriage.
Do not go around seeking advice from someone who says what you want to hear either.
5. Does this decision require faith?
God usually asks us to make decisions that cause us to step out of our comfort zone.
God wants to stretch and develop us into what He has created us for and called us to, but we have to have faith in Him.
A wise Biblical decision will always require us to keep our trust and faith in Him.
Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith, it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
There is no wisdom apart from God.
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
You may be asking where to start in your walk towards wisdom, this walk begins with a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
